Believe it or not – for two years now, I just started wearing liquid foundation. All throughout high-school and college, I never wore liquid foundation of my own. I was too afraid that I wouldn’t have the right match, or I’d look caked up and like a ghost! The only times I wore it was when someone did my makeup. I never knew how to match it to my skin tone on my own and if it actually looked blended in. While working in the city, I met this outstanding girl at Sephora. She matched me to all the foundations that I always wanted to try. Ever since, I could not go back to a compact powder foundation. I spent a lot of my work breaks at Sephora. All the new things that she taught me in person fascinated me. Liquid foundation makes your skin look flawless if blended and set right. I am always on the lookout for new foundations. I love switching it up every couple of days or based on the weather or my mood.
I love medium to full coverage foundation that doesn’t irritate the skin and gives a natural matte look. My skin-type is a combination; in the summer, I get oily and in the winter my skin is more dry but I still get oily. I’ve rounded up four of my favorite liquid foundations suitable for any skin type.
If I could choose any foundation in the world, it would be Estee Lauder Double Wear. I swear by this foundation, it’s my absolute favorite. It’s full coverage, blendable, stays in place, and it brightens my skin up. The best part is that it has never irritated my skin or oxidized – meaning changing to a darker color on my skin. I use it all year round; when I go on vacation, dinners, large events and I’ll also be using it on my wedding day next year! The only cons is that there is no SPF in this foundation and it is pricey. I promise it is worth the splurge. For SPF, I use the incredible EltaMD UV Clear Broad-Spectrum SPF 46 right before applying foundation.
As soon as you apply this foundation, your face will appear airbrushed! It is a full coverage, matte water-based foundation, so that means it feels light and feathery on the skin. It has the highest level of pigment, almost twice that of an original liquid foundation. To avoid a mask-like effect, the minerals in the pigments get a very specific coating that merges with skin giving an undetectable finish. It spreads so smoothly and covers all imperfections easily. Bonus: it does not make me oily. I love that it doesn’t set right away or dry out so you have ample time to put on your concealer and blend away where you need to. A few cons is the price and I wouldn’t say that it lasts for 24 hours – it does gradually fade after 10 hours. There’s also no SPF in this foundation.
I’ve never seen something melt straight into your skin; making your skin look like skin, but only better like this foundation. This is a medium coverage foundation that blends easily, even with your fingers. It has a serum-like and silky feel that fills in your fine lines and does not settle into your pores. It is buildable so you can also achieve full coverage. It gives a natural look, so I reach for this frequently for work and lasts all day! The only con I would say is its price point.
This is a popular favorite amongst many people! I caved in and bought it. I was not disappointed. The finish is beautiful, which is why I love it. It also makes my skin look hydrated and radiant. The only cons is that it makes me a bit oily, but I’m fine after touching up with a powder. Also, there is no SPF in this.
Oooh good to know. I’m on the hunt.
I was actually the exact same! In high school I wore powder foundation and then in college and up until a few years ago I really just wore concealer. I’ve grown to love so many liquid foundations now, though.
Great post, love! x
